A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing Ulothrix, a filamentous green algae, stained blue and magnified 400x. The individual cells of Ulothrix are short cylinders, each containing a single, c-shaped chloroplast. Numerous cells attached end-to-end form a long, thin filament. The dark spots visible within some cells are pyrenoids (bodies associated with starch accumulation).
