A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing Trichinella spiralis (one encysted larva), stained red and magnified 400x. In this preparation, the larval worm has been made nearly transparent, so it does not contrast significantly with the muscle tissue surrounding it. The entire worm is present, but is somewhat difficult to see.
