A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing Spirogyra, a filamentous green algae, stained blue-green and magnified 100x. The vegetative cells of Spirogyra are rod shaped and attached end-to-end in long, filamentous chains. One or more, ribbon-like, spiral chloroplasts (visible inside each cell) are characteristics useful in identificaion.
