A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing Saprolegnia or watermold, stained blue and magnified 100x. Hyphae appear as blue, thread-like filaments, while sporangia appear as darker blue segments at the ends of some hyphae. The sporangium at the center contains asexual sporangiospores (small blue discs) that are nearly mature. Other sporangia contain poorly developed spores.
