Peridinium (w.m.)
Photomicrograph of Peridinium, a type of dinoflagellate. Magnification: 400x. A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing the dinoflagellate Peridinium, stained pinkish and magnified 400x. Each Peridinium cell is roughly spherical in shape and covered by armored plates that give it an angular appearance. Notches in the cell surface mark the location of a transverse groove (girdle or annulus). The flagellum located within this groove is not visible.
