Fasciola hepatica

A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing the cercariae (immature or larval forms) of the sheep liver fluke Fasciola hepatica stained red and magnified 10x. The body portion of each cercaria is disc-shaped with two suckers (one dorsal and one ventral). The tail portion is linear. This larval stage exits the intermediate host (water snail) and forms a cyst on grass or other vegetation.
