Dermacentor andersoni (w.m.)

Photomicrograph of Dermacentor andersoni, a wood tick (adult, whole mount). Magnification: 10x.

A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing the wood tick Dermacentor andersoni (adult, whole mount) magnified 10x. The adult wood tick has a flattened, pear-shaped body with eight jointed legs. The dark oval-shaped genital pore (visible on lower central portion of the abdomen) and dark, block-like patches (along the bottom margin of the abdomen) are characteristics useful for identification.
