A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing an adult, male hookworm (Necator americanus) magnified 20x. The mouth, located at the slender end of the worm (lower right) contains, sharp, cutting teeth. The tail end (upper center) is equipped with an expanded region of cuticle called a bursa that is supported by fleshy rays of tissue and is useful in identification.
