A photomicrograph of a prepared slide showing Chlamydomonas stained blue-green and magnified 1000x. These single-celled green algae are oval-shaped and slightly pointed at one end. Each cell has two flagella (extending from the pointed end) but these are very thin and difficult to see. Water containing a dense population of these algae will appear green and cloudy.
