Plants of the Week

Family: Asteraceae

Technical Name: Gnaphalium luteo-album

Common Name: Cudweed

Cudweed, also called Everlasting because of the straw flower-like persistent petals that remain for a long time, is commonly at home growing in many fields and waste places throughout the world. Native to Eurasia, it has naturalized in California, with its many close relatives. The leafy stems are very woolly, covered with a layer of soft whitish hairs. The small flowers are in tight clusters and unscented.
