There will be no in-class orientation session at the start of the class. The general orientation materials are available here (on this Web page) and the more specific class materials will be found on our specific Bio. Sci. 10 Blackboard site.

This section of Bio. Sci. 10 is being taught as an online class. This online class utilizes Sierra College's Blackboard Distance Learning Site with additional support and coordination via this Web site. When you enroll as an online student you MUST complete the Blackboard oreintation materials, if you have not. Without this information you will not be able to access class instructional materials (lectures, labs, announcements, assignments, quizzes, etc.) Don't try to avoid this easy oreintation to online courses offered for your benefit by Sierra College if you have never done this before. You will find this information on the above online link to Sierra College. Enrolled students, your Blackboard Bio. Sci. 10 site is the primary location for finding required class assignments, materials, notices and activities. Textbook and Class Content
For this class, there will be no required textbook, although if you wish to have a text as a learning resource, the following one is recommended and used by other Bio. 10 sections. You are not required to buy the book or the CD version. Previous students have successfully completed the class without it. No class assignments will use the CD. All of the class materials that are needed for your success will be provided on the class's blackboard Web site and the selected resources on the Internet. The text listed below may be of value to you for the purposes of background reading and reference. You will not be tested directly out of the text, yet you may find it helpful. There are current and older versions in the library (LRC) - Rocklin Campus. "Essential Biology - 3nd Edition, by the authors: Campbell, Reece & Simon - ISBN # 0805368426. General Course Information: Designed specifically for nonbiology, nonlife science majors, covering organization of life, cellular processes, genetics and evolution, diversity of life, ecology, and the impact of humanity on, and interdependence with, the environment. Will meet life science requirements in most general education programs. Not recommended for students who have taken advanced biology in high school. Does not fulfill laboratory science requirement. Not open to those who have completed Bio.Sci. 1 or Bio.Sci. 11.
